Chapter Philanthropy

Theta Delta continues to keep philanthropy a top priority to our chapter. Sigma Kappa is extremely dedicated to its five philanthropies: The Sigma Kappa Foundation, Alzheimer's research, Gerontology, the Maine Sea Coast Mission, and Inherit the Earth. In the spring, we host a philanthropy event called Greek Love Duets, in which a girl and guy from each sorority and fraternity pair up to sing a duet together. Similarly, in the Fall, we celebrate our UltraViolet Week. On this week, we host our Ultra Violet Gala, attend the Walk to End Alzheimer's, and host a  flag football tournament that we call Dove Bowl.

We are very dedicated to our school's dance-marathon for pediatric cancer called "UDance". We have an "adopted sister," Victoria, who we not only visit in the hospital during her treatments, but also have such an amazing bond with her. We love spending time with such an inspiring young woman going through a tough battle. We were honored by the B+ Foundation with the "Heart of a Champion" award for our dedication and commitment to our Hero!

Our chapter does not only hold events for our philanthropy, but we are constantly active throughout the year in raising awareness and funds for our causes. Sigma Kappa volunteers monthly at Rockland Nursing Home, in the greater Wilmington area. Our UD community's favorite week is the Sigma Kappa Week of Giving. During this week, we extend favors to everyone in our school community to help make their finals week a little easier and thank them for their support. This year, we gave out Duck Donuts in the morning outside of Morris Library, had the UD Community write thank you letters to those who have served for our country on Veteran's Day, held a food drive, and handed out bananas with motivational quotes.
